About us
CIMSA is Indonesia’s national member organization (NMO) for the IFMSA, the international representative organization of medical students, recognized by the WHO.
CIMSA
CIMSA, or Center for Indonesian Medical Students’ Activities is an independent, inclusive, nationalist , non-profit, non-partisan, and non-governmental organization. CIMSA provides chances and experiences for medical students who have intentions to express their opinions and ideas through activity-based projects that will bring a great impact on our nation’s health. CIMSA was officially established in 6th May 2001 and currently maintains 27 locals throughout Indonesia with over 8000 members. Since 2002, CIMSA has been affiliated with International Federation of Medical Students’ Association (IFMSA), which is recognized by World Health Organization as the biggest international forum for medical students.
CIMSA is commited to help achieve the goals and targets of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 3,4,5, and 13 continuously all SDGs achievement programs in Indonesia and implementing SDGs goals and targets in CIMSA’s activities.

IFMSA
International Federation of Medical Students’ Association (IFMSA) adalah organisasi non-profit, non-pemerintah dan non-partisipan yang mewakili asosiasi mahasiswa kedokteran internasional. IFMSA didirikan pada tahun 1951 dan merupakan salah satu organisasi pelajar dan organisasi pelajar kedokteran tertua di dunia. IFMSA terbagi menjadi lima region: Asia-Pacific tempat kita berada, America, Eastern-Mediterranean, Africa, dan Europe. Menghubungkan mahasiswa kedokteran dari 141 organisasi di 130 negara di seluruh dunia, IFMSA memiliki tujuan yang terbagi dalam enam area: kesehatan masyarakat, kesehatan reproduksi seksual, pendidikan kedokteran, hak asasi manusia dan perdamaian, pertukaran pelajar profesional, dan pertukaran pelajar penelitian.
Our Standing Committes
CIMSA organize our work through six Standing Committees that represent focus areas of equal importance in order to maintain a balanced, holistic, and steady approach towards our targets and goals.
SCOME
Standing Committee on Medical Education.
Goals:
- To promote medical education system and curriculum’s reformation to improve medical education.
- To increase students, community, policy makers in medical field and government’s awareness of the importance of medical education development.
- To strengthen the network and resources for medical students in order to establish a qualified health workers.
- To expand education and training opportunities for medical students to improve the quality of Indonesia medical resources in the face of changes in local and global scale
Mission Statement:
“We aim to achieve excellence in medical education throughout the world.”
SCOPH
Standing Committee on Public Health.
Goals:
- To improve awareness and knowledge of the community about public health.
- To trigger Indonesian medical students’ awareness about public health related issues.
- To facilitate Indonesian medical students’ activity in public health to provide opportunities for medical student’s to be involved in a real work concerning public health
- To create programs (of public health) that are fit with Indonesia’s current conditions and needs.
- To cooperate and to build partnership with governmental organization and/or non-governmental organization that’s concerned about public health related issues.
Mission Statement:
“To attain the optimal skills and knowledge to contribute to their full potential towards the making of healthier communities in their capacity as medical students and as future healthcare providers.”
SCORA
Standing Committee on Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights including HIV & AIDS.
Goals:
- To raise awareness and knowledge of the community on topics related to HIV/AIDS and sexual and reproductive health
- To facilitate Indonesian medical students to contribute more in the fields of sexual and reproductive health including AIDS
- To develop programs in the fields of sexual and reproductive health including AIDS which tackles the nation’s conditions.
- To create opportunities for medical students to act for the betterment of the society’s sexual and reproductive health.
Mission Statement:
“To provide necessary tools to advocate for sexual and reproductive health and rights within respective communities in a culturally respective fashion.”
SCORE
Standing Committee on Research Education.
Goals:
- Enable them to take responsibility for their own learning according to their personal interests.
- Introduce them to the basic principles of medical research
- Widen their horizons and provide the opportunity to experience different approaches to health care, ethical research standards, medical research, education, and treatment.
- Enhance the academic quality of the medical student curricula and achieve educational benefits of practical and theoretical knowledge in the field of medical research.
- Facilitate collaboration and partnership between medical universities, research institutions and allied medical students across the globe in order to share and spread new achievements in medical research.
Mission Statement:
“To offer future physicians an opportunity to experience research work and the diver- sity of countries all over the world. Also, to develop both culturally sensitive students and skilled researchers intent on shaping the world of science in the upcoming future.”
SCORP
Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace.
Goals:
- To provide education in the field of human rights and peace
- To increase of awareness and educate prospective health professionals in the field of health systems refugees, displaced persons and other vulnerable people
- To establish a culture of peace, conflict prevention and respect for human rights
- To be ready to act in order to achieve solution to achieve peace overconflicts
- To establish and develop multidisiplinary cooperation relating to SCORP work fields.
- To Participate, both within the local, national and international, in the field of Refugees/IDPS, displaced persons and other vulnerable people.
- To cooperate with NGOs (Non Governments Organizations) to create projects or activites related to SCORP work fields.
Mission Statment:

SCOPE
Standing Committee on Professional Exchange.
Goals:
- To increase global mobility and broaden the horizons of medical students worldwide.
- To ensure equal exchange opportunities regardless of social, financial, or political backgrounds.
- To experience healthcare in diverse cultures and understand the influence of local beliefs on medicine.
- To learn about global health issues, epidemiology, and primary care in a foreign context.
- To develop self-reliant future health professionals with a global vision and open mindset.
Mission Statement:
“To promote cultural understanding and cooperation amongst medical students and all health professionals through the facilitation of international student exchanges. Also, to give all students the opportunity to learn about global health, and attains this partly by having its exchanges accredited by medical faculties across the world.”
